Potter Kicks off 2019 in Maui
Tuesday, January 1, 2019

There are 34 players, including Ted Potter, set to tee off in Maui Thursday in the Sentry Tournament of Champions, first PGA Tour event of 2019. Ted qualified as winner of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and will partner with Scott Piercy, teeing off at 10:30 a. m.

Ted has played in just four events in the new season, and is in 85th place on the PGA Tour money list with earnings of $195,874. With the small, elite field playing for $6.5 million in the T of C, he has an excellent chance for a major payday

The two giants not playing at the Plantation Course at Kapalua are Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. But the rest of the marquee names will be there, including Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy and the other winners of PGA events during the wrap-around 2017-2018 season. Dustin won it last year and took $1,260,000 home to celebrate with Paulina Gretzky.

Included in the mix are one Gator - Billy Horschel - and one Seminole - Brooks Koepka. Horschel goes at 12:30 with Justin Thomas, while Player of the Year Koepka tees off 10 minutes earlier with Keegan Bradley. Brooks leads the current money list with $1,826,000 in the bank.
