Potter Falters in Wind, Still Tied for Second
Sunday, June 11, 2017

Ted Potter's charge to the top of the leaderboard Friday in his quest to win his first Web.com Tour event in six years took a detour in the high winds at the Ivanhoe Golf Club in Illinois yesterday. Ted followed up his second-round course record 63 at the Rust-Oleum Championship with a 1-over-par 73 Saturday. But the devastating winds also took their toll on much of the rest of the field and he still wound up deadlocked for second place behind Stephan Jaeger.

Jaegar is 13 under par heading into today's finale and he goes off at 1:30 with Alexandre Rocha as his playing partner. Rocha's 64 vaulted him into a three-way tie for second with Ted (71-63-73-207) and Andrew Landry, with whom Ted plays with a 1:20 starting time. Once again, Golf Channel comes on the air at 5 p. m. Yesterday, Ted and Jason Gore received much of the air time as they played the back nine.

Ted opened with a birdie 4 on the third hole to get it to 11 under in a hurry, but he bogeyed 4 and 5, the latter with a three-putt green, and a bogey on seven put him at 2-over 38 for the nine. On the back, he dropped further off the pace with a bogey on 11, but he birdied 12 and 13 to get back in the mix. After 54 holes, Ted leads the field with 16 birdies, but seven bogeys have severely diminished his chances. Still, he's just four behind Jaeger, playing right in front of him, and anything's possible.
