Potter Back in Action at Scene of His First Triumph
Saturday, September 7, 2019

The 2019-2020 PGA Tour season begins Thursday at the oddly-named 'A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier' in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, and Ted Potter will make his debut there along with a sparse mix of marquee names, a short familiar list of old-timers, and a long list of youngsters who many would think were playing a lesser Tour.

This is the course where Ted first made his mark, winning the 2012 edition and collecting a check for nearly $1.1 million. His Tour earnings now have exceeded $5 million.  The Old White TPC course is right up Ted's alley even though there are only two par 5s. Not one of the 12 par 4s is in the 500-yard range. No. 18, a 162-yard par 3, is where he won a playoff over Troy Kelly after both made birdie after birdie, until Kelly finally succumbed and took a 3.

The big name players Ted will be facing include Bryson DeChambeau, Bill Haas, J. B. Holmes, Zach Johnson, Marc Leishman, Jimmy Walker, Bubba Watson, Boo Weekley and Kevin Na, the defending champion who took home a cool $1,314,000 last year. The elderly group consists of John Daly, Stuart Appleby, Alex Cejka, J. J. Henry, Freddy Jacobson, Rod Pampling, D. A. Points and D. J. Trahan.

Also included in the field is Viktor Hovland, who would have to regress greatly in upcoming events not to be crowned rookie of the year in 12 months.

One Gator is in the field - Matt Every - and one Seminole - Hank Lebioda.
