Thursday, October 11, 2018

Ted Potter began the CIMB Classic with a birdie on No. 1, and closed with a birdie on No. 18. In between, however, he made four bogeys and three birdies and wound up with a 1-under-par 71 in the first round of the body-less event at the par 72 TPC Kuala Lumpur.

Ted is one of just 78 players who turned up for the $7 million event in Malaysia, and he's tied for 49th after round one.

Bronson Burgoon took the lead with a 9-under 63, one stroke better than Austin Cook. Gator Billy Horschel is in a deadlock for third at 7 under, and there are eight tied at 6 under. Brian Gay is tied for 56th at even par.

    Ernie Els posted a 4-under 68 and Davis Love III a 2-under 70.
