Ocala's Louis Oosthuizen closed out the Phoenix Open with birdies on the final two holes yesterday and finished in a tie for 14th in his first tournament appearance in nearly three months.

He wound up cashing a check for $133,250, which boosted his bank account for the new wrap-around season to $284,635. That moved him up from 163rd to 119th on the PGA Tour money list, and from 164th to 119th on the FedEx Cup points list.

Louis made two birdies and two bogeys on the front side yesterday at the TPC Scottsdale for an even-par 35. On the back, he canned three birdies and added one bogey, with two of the birdies coming on 17 and 18, for a 2-under 34. He wound up at 11 under par, five strokes behind Scottie Scheffler and Patrick Cantlay. Scheffler defeated Cantlay in the playoff.

Xander Schauffele, Seminole Brooks Koepka and third-round leader Sahith Theegala tied for third at 15 under in a finale that see-sawed back and forth beginning at the first hole. Koepka shot a steady 66-66-68-69-269.

Gator Billy Horschel's 67-69-68-66-270, 14 under, left him in a tie for sixth with Alex Noren.
