Oosthuizen Doesn't Go Far in WGC Event - But Collects Fat Paycheck
Tuesday, March 29, 2022

Louis Oosthuizen's week at the WGC-Dell Championship proved to be less than fruitful, except from a monetary standpoint.

Louis lost in each of the first two rounds in the 64-man event and won in the third round by default without hitting a shot when opponent Paul Casey withdrew. But with a record of 1-2-0 he didn't qualify to continue. What he did qualify for was a big paycheck - $58,239, to be exact. That boosted his bank account for the 2021-2022 season to $476,011, and moved him up four spots on the money list to 125th.

Louis will not be playing in the $8.6 million Valero Texas Open in San Antonio this week, where Jordan Spieth will be defending - last year he earned a cool $1,386,000. All the big Seminoles and Gators are also absent, leaving the college hopes to Seminole Hank Lebioda and Gator Camilo Villegas.

There are a slew of Gators playing in the $1.6 million Rapiscam System Classic on the Champions Tour in Biloxi, Mississippi; dual tour player Brian Gay, Chris DiMarco, Scott Dunlap and Mark Calcavecchia. Former Ocalan Roger Rowland will be making his fourth start on the senior circuit; he's collected $8,770 in the first three and is 79th in the standings. Also on board at the Grand Bear Golf Club is Marco Dawson, former touring pro at Ocala's now-defunct Adena Springs course.
