Monday, July 9, 2018

With the British Open coming up in two weeks, this week's John Deere Classic in Silvis, Illinois is virtually starless, with the biggest names being Zach Johnson, Bill Haas, Francesco Molinari, Davis Love III, Steve Stricker and last year's winner, Bryson DeChambeau. Ted Potter will not play, along with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and everybody else.

Gators entered: Chris Couch, Matt Every, Brian Gay, Brett Stegmaier.

Ted followed up his opening 73 in the A Military Tribute @ the Greenbrier with a slick 65, making six birdies and one bogey, but missed the cut of 3 under by one stroke. He had a chance if he could make birdie on either 17 or 18, but he parred both.

Kevin Na was an easy winner with his 19-under 261, five strokes better than Kelly Kraft. Stegmaier shot 67-70-70-67-274, 6 under, and tied for 30th, while Gay (70-66-71-68-275) was one stroke back in a tie for 39th. Couch mised the cut with rounds of 71-73 and Every was dq'ed after 69 in the opener and 41 on the front in round 2.
