Florida Collegians Well-Represented at Mayakoba Golf Classic
Monday, November 30, 2020

Gators and Seminoles will be out in force for the final full-field PGA Tour event of 2020, before the Sentry Tournament of Champions kicks off the 2021 calendar in Maui on Jan. 7.

The finale is the Mayakoba Golf Classic, to be played at the El Camaleon Golf Club in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Carrying the torch for the Gators looking to grab the major share of the $7.2 million purse will be Billy Horschel, reborn Camilo Villegas, Brian Gay and Matt Every, while the Seminoles will be represented by Brooks Koepka, Daniel Berger and Hank Lebioda.

The defending champ is Brendon Todd, who took home a cool $1,296,000 with his victory last year over the gorgeous par-71 Greg Norman-designed course, which plays at 7,039 yards.

Although many of the marquee players will be absent, Justin Thomas will be on board, along with K. J. Choi, Keegan Bradley, Gary Woodland, Rickie Fowler, Tony Finau and Charles Howell III.

One of the unique - and special - aspects of the event is that players can walk out of their rooms, board a boat and get ferried to the first tee.
