Langer Leads Regions Tradition By Two
Saturday, May 27, 2017

Bernhard Langer stretched his slim one-stroke lead to two at the Regions Tradition yesterday as he moved one stroke closer to breaking Jack Nicklaus's mark of eight major titles on the Champions Tour. Langer added a 5-under-par 67 to his opening 65 for 12-under 132, two ahead of Vijay Singh and Scott McCarron.

Unknown James Kingston, who was deadlocked for the lead with Langer at 7 under nearing the completion of the first round before dropping back to 5 under, imploded in round 2 and shot 74. He's tied for 14th at 3 under.

Trilogy architect Tom Lehman added a 3-under 69 to his 67 and at 8 under is tied for fifth.

Gator Scott Dunlap faltered Friday, and he's tied for 22nd at 1 under (68-75-143). Adena pro Marco Dawson's pair of 73s has him at 2 over, tied for 47th. Corey Pavin had the worst day of all after his opening 69, shooting 10-over 82.

THERE'LL BE SOME CHANGES MADE - The top of the leaderboard changed drastically after the conclusion of the second round of the Dean & DeLuca Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas yesterday.

When play was suspended at Colonial late in the day Thursday with a great many players still on the course, Derek Fathauer, J. T. Poston and Kelly Kraft were tied for the lead with 5-under 65s. By the end of play Friday, the three were nowhere to be found, Fathauer shooting 74, Poston 76 and Kraft 73. They were replaced by Webb Simpson, Kevin Kisner, Danny Lee and Scott Piercy, all of whom wound up at 6 under. Masters champ Sergio Garcia shot his way into the mix with 69-66-135, 5 under.

Among the Gators, Brian Gay was best with 69-69-138, 2 under and tied for 11th; Billy Horschel was tied for 25th with a pair of even-par 70s; Matt Every was 7 over with 74-73-147, and Camilo Villegas withdrew on the front nine after his opening-round 75.
