Koepka Leads Tour Championship at 13 Under
Saturday, August 24, 2019

If the Tour Championship was still being played under its old format, Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele and Paul Casey would be tied for the lead at seven under par, and Jason Kokrak, for example, would be five strokes behind at -2 and still in contention.

But, under the new format, Brooks Koepka is leading at 13 under after two rounds of 67 (6 under) added to his head start of 7 under. And Kokrak is still at -2, but he's 11 behind and has virtually no chance of winning even though here are still 36 holes to be played at East Lake in Atlanta.

In fact, after 36 holes, there are just nine players at -6 or better, leaving 21 with little chance short of shooting a round of 9 or 10 under today or tomorrow. Based on the scoring thus far, that seems to be highly improbable. And Justin Thomas, now at -12 and one stroke behind Brooks, would be out of contention at -2 (70-68).
