Johnson Overpowers WGC-Mexico Field
Monday, February 25, 2019

There was very little suspense at any time during Sunday's finale of the WGC-Mexico Championship. Dustin Johnson's 66 put a stamp on his 20th career PGA victory, and gave him at least one victory in each of the last 12 years. Rory McIlroy closed with a 67 and remained in second, five strokes behind Dustin.

It was five more strokes back to the third-place finishers, Paul Casey (65), Ian Poulter (68) and Kiradech Aphibarnrat (68). The biggest move on closing day was achieved by Justin Thomas, who began the day at even par and posted a 9-under 62. He jumped 28 spots into a tie for ninth.

Tiger Woods began the day with two quick birdies, but only made one more the rest of the way, along with one bogey, and he finished with a 2-under 69. He tied for 10th at 8 under. Phil Mickelson shot 68 Sunday and finished at even par 284.

Seminole Brooks Koepka tied for 27th at 3 under and Gator Billy Horschel tied for 45th at 1 over.
