Villegas Makes Return to Korn Ferry Tour; Ties for 4th
Tuesday, February 11, 2020

Camilo Villegas, one of the best PGA Tour players ever to grace the UF campus in Gainesville, is making his return to the wars after a nearly two-year absence due to injury.

Camilo finished in a tie for fourth with an impressive performance in his hometown of Bogota, Colombia, in the $700,000 Country Club de Bogota Championship, posting rounds of 64-65-69-69-267, 16 under par. He wound up just four strokes behind Mito Pereira, who was 20 under and collected the major check for $126,000. Camilo moved up in the Korn Ferry Tour rankings from 103rd to 27th.

Seminole Jack Maguire tied for 16th at 12 under and picked up two spots, from 18th to 16th, while Gator Brett Stegmaier jumped from no ranking to 77th after tieing for 21st at 11 under. Gator Tyson Alexander of Gainesville missed the 4-under cut by one stroke after a pair of 69s, 3 under par.

Among former winners of the Ocala Open at Candler Hills, Wade Binfield (won in 2017) tied for 36th at 8 under, jumping from 63rd to 56th; and Dan McCarthy (2015 & 2016) missed the cut at 1 over, dropping from 37th to 50th. Mark Blakefield, who defeated Ted Potter by one stroke in one of the Hooter's events at Golden Hills several years back, tied for 39th at 7 under and dropped from 28th 31st.

This week, the Tour heads for Lakewood Ranch, Florida, for the LECOM Suncoast Classic. Villegas won't be there but Alexander, Binfield, Blakefield, Maguire, McCarthy and Stegmaier will all be trying to grab the biggest share of the $600,000 purse and move up in the rankings.
