Quicken Loans Has Tiger and Ted - and Little Else
Monday, June 25, 2018

Tiger Woods and Ted Potter are on board for the $7.1 million Quicken Loans National this week in Maryland, but the tournament will follow in the footsteps of many of the recent PGA Tour events, lacking in star power, and, in this case, more lacking than most.

Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, Bubba Watson, Justin Rose, Jason Day, Bryson DeChambeau, Patrick Reed, Phil Mickelson, Patton Kizzire, Webb Simpson, Tony Finau, Paul Casey, Brooks Koepka, Jon Rahm, Patrick Cantlay. Those are the first 15 players on the FedEx Cup points list - and they're all missing in action. The first name from that list who is playing is No. 16 Rickie Fowler.

Fortunately, host Woods will draw thousands to TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm, just down the road from Congressional, where the event has often been played.

Bubba broke a long losing skein by winning the Traveler's over the weekend, closing with a 7-under-par 63 and winding up at 17 under. He won by four over Stewart Cink, who shot a Sunday 62, and Beau Hossler, J. B. Holmes and Paul Casey.

Seminoles: Brooks Koepka tied for 19th at 9 under; Daniel Berger tied for 67th at even par 280. Gators: Brett Stegmaier tied for 42nd at 4 under but isn't in this week; he's the fifth alternate. Billy Horschel (even) and Matt Every (plus 8) both missed the cut. Potter shot 68-71-139, 1 under par, and missed the cut by one.
