Rowland Closes With 70 at ClubCorp Classic
Monday, April 25, 2022

Roger Rowland saved the best for last at the ClubCorp Classic in Irving, Texas, posting a 1-under-par 70 on Sunday and winding up in a tie for 69th.

The former Ocalan shot rounds of 75-76-70-221, 8 over par, and took home a check for $1,760. That raised his total in his first go-around on the Champions Tour to $13,170. He moved up one spot on the money list from 84th to 83rd. He isn't entered in this week's Insperity Invitational at The Woodlands, also in Texas.

Over the 54 holes of the Las Colinas Country Club course, Roger made 10 birdies and 28 pars, but 14 bogeys and two doubles prevented him from attaining his first major paycheck. He hit 23 of 39 fairways and 30 of 54 greens in regulation, including 12 of 18 Sunday.

Scott Parel won the event after a three-way playoff with Gene Sauers and Steven Alker at 11 under par. Parel made a par on the par-5 18th hole, while his rivals both took bogey.

Gator Brian Gay, enjoying playing on both the PGA and Champions Tours since turning 50 recently, tied for seventh with rounds of 70-69-67-206, seven under par. He's played three events with the senior group and has earned $180,053, good for 19th on the money list. Marco Dawson, former touring pro for Ocala's defunct Adena Springs course, tied Gay at 7 under, closing with a 64 on Sunday.

POTTER SPOTTER - Ted Potter has entered two events this week, but he's been relegated to the alternate list for both. He has already moved up a couple of spots for the PGA's Mexico Open, but is still 7th as of today and has little chance of getting in. He also began the week well down the list for the Korn Ferry Tour's Huntsville Championship in Alabama but has already moved up to fourth and with a couple of days left, he still has a slim chance to make the field.
