Oosthuizen Tied for 10th After 36 Holes in Valspar
Saturday, March 19, 2022

Louis Oosthuizen tacked on a 3-under-par 68 to his opening-round 67 and heads into today's third round of the $7.8 million Valspar Championship in a tie for 10th place at 7 under. Louis is seven strokes off the pace of streaking Matthew NeSmith, who made eight birdies and an eagle en route to a course record-tying 10-under 61, and he's all alone at the top at 14 under par over the Copperhead course at Innisbrook.

Adam Hadwin is alone in second at 12 under par (64-66-130), followed by Scott Stallings (65-66-131) and Sam Burns (64-67-131) in third, and Justin Thomas (66-66-132) in fifth.

Louis got off to a good start canning a 3'11'' putt for birdie on No. 1, and went to 2 under on No. 3 with an 18-foot snake for the TV audience. He made a great par save on the par-3 fourth, blasting out of a bunker from 35 feet away to within 3 feet. He birdied the 6th to go 3 under, and parred 7, 8 and 9 for a front nine 33. He missed a 7'5" putt on 10 to take bogey, but made it back with a 7'5'' birdie putt on the par-5 14th. Despite hitting a fairway bunker off the tee on 18 he made par to close with 35. He goes today at 12:40 off the first tee alongside Stewart Cink.

Seminole Brooks Koepka is tied with Louis for 10th with rounds of 67-70-137, but Hank Lebioda missed the cut (-3) at even par, and Gator Brian Gay missed it at plus 1.
